A problem with polling is that regardless of how sincerely the pollster convinces themself they are being objective (fair), that is meaningless if those being polled are not honest, fair, objective or not fearful of the pollster's bias (lies/self-deception).

Rhetorically, perhaps philosophically but surely satirically the gauntlet laid down is metaphorically my alligators (and crocodiles) are bigger than your alligators (and crocodiles).
