A mental anomaly I perceive is the non-realization that for anything and everything one hears if that person does not hear it, they would not know about it and, just guessing, not be affected or effected by what was said since they didn't hear about it. Either way the results can be identical metal twins (figuratively). Or perhaps more meaning can be derived from the phase "a lot of things are a useless waste of time", combined with "to each their own".
