A stiff drink to swallow* is a strong mix of fatalism combined with fantasy with possibly a chaser of realism maybe sometime or never to the end.

Liberalism.

* Unless you are addicted.

Drug addiction, like alcoholism shares the path providing diversity, equity and inclusion.
