There seems to be a reasonable explanation that a republican* office holder who does not return to that office has prepared the locale for future failure by a democrat. Acknowledgement: This an opinion about an assumption not based research. There may be a thread of reality and logic intertwined in this theory. Think about it at your own risk.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
