Rahm Emmanuel’s comment “never let a serious crises go to waste” missed the true intent slightly. bho’s behavior is a better representation of the policy: never let the opportunity to create serious crises or use serious crises created by other people or events go to waste.
Or, the short form: evaluate each decision so it will cause as much chaos, disruption and irritation to as many people as possible regardless of how many people will suffer and even be physically hurt.
This is one description of liberal progressive fairness, equality and “payback”. Hurt as many as possible who you imagine hurt you.

Maybe the most self-beneficial reconciling penance administered by/for/to humans is performed by politicians who have a blinding trust in the concept employed as preventative responsibility contained within the theory of plausible deniability. That, on judgement day penance may be translated to the language of individual responsibility and will fail the Judge's inquiry and be passed on as the administration of justice.
