It is amazing how tight shut the door to a mind can be closed. During the 2020 election I viewed on screen the commission of acts that are illegal (civil and/or criminal) during a poll voting process. I have also viewed on screen the commission of acts that are criminal violent and destructive during demonstrations. Since it is self-justified to frame a situation into the real or imaginary story a person wants to project, it has been presented that such illegal acts can be described, as "mostly peaceful" in order to ignore the unpeaceful acts. And it is equally rational to experience a civil/criminal illegal act being ignored during a poll station voting process.
If people who have decided to work as government decide to apply laws to their personal standards, then logically they are no longer societal standards they are personal standards. It takes a while for society to realize what has been happening and put an end to this practice. (1)
The relevance to the tight door is that people form safe-spaces in their mind and install strong doors to prevent entry into that space. Helping them to intellectually reason in order to expand the breadth of their comprehension so they can work their own way out is a formidable challenge. Trying to force someone to think/reason would likely make the locks and the doors even harder to dismantle.

(1) In the current condition in which society finds itself, the people who really have or imagine they have authority to apply their standards are called Karens. (not always) It includes people in government and not in government.

Long road ahead to again instill proper parenting, education, government and personal responsibility.
I think I hear our Lord saying it can be done. Or as humans may interpret it, been there, done that, and do it again.
