An exaggerated metaphor of the situation democrats mentally face can be magnifying-ly conceptualized with the absurdity of their perceptions when it makes sense that now if a pin drops, the direction it falls either to the left or to the right can be ascertained as racist, fascist, propagandist or whatever despite being only a pin that dropped.
