In the grand metaphor of human existence, we follow a cycle of existence not different from most living things. A society is born, it grows and then dies. The seed for the next cycle is planted and it grows, and it will die. Almost like it is planned that way. What may be a pertinent issue is how long growth can be maintained. The longer a society can convince its entirety it is worth growing will determine how long a "civilization" may last. The American experiment is exposing its flaws. Maybe we will see those flaws corrected in the next planting.

Empathy without responsibility is pity with or without charity. Just a thought, not.
