My response to critics who complain about the government shutdown is to ask the critic if they would refuse to help a family member, friend, neighbor or fellow citizen who needs help during the shutdown. It isn’t a trick question.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
