(1) Constituents in their district generally in a majority identify as republicans therefore the politician, though a democrat by their policies, performs as closely as possible to democrats.
Note: republicans, during their term, are especially adept at asking pointless questions, the answer(s) to which they have no control over whatsoever. Or, advising you (the constituent) that they have minimized or will eliminate the pain and damage government is causing by scheduling an appointment with the department applying the torture.
