Eliminating criminals is more likely than eliminating supporters of criminals, aka persons who abet (help) criminals.
Perhaps this comment is a redundant ambiguous oxymoron. Criminals will not eliminate themselves and people who support criminals are themselves criminals for supporting the criminals and like the criminal referred to in the beginning of this sentence, it is unlikely they will eliminate themselves.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
