TDS is the intellectual version of a physical addiction. Escape from torment that accompanies physical addiction frequently occurs when the familiar destination, referred to as the bottom, is hit figuratively and perhaps sometimes literally by those addicted.
Alert! the same metaphorical ending, paraphrased as "bottoming out", applies to intellectual addictions that are often encountered in the highest realm of thought absurdities. A realm which is known as politics.
TDS is such an addiction condition. Some will make it through. Others not so well. Some may simply try to forget or ignore it ever happened to them, that is deceive themselves back into reality (a tenuous ambiguous oxymoronic condition at best).
