Some who ignore their predecessors act as though their legacy will be something different than what they accomplish or do not accomplish. If the sole accomplishment is ignoring those who came before them, they themselves will probably be ignored by those who come after them because ignore-ance is bliss with nothing remaining to find of those predecessors who were ignored thus nothing to look at (accomplished) by those who ignored them.
Might one think that they are burning bridges before them.

Maybe the most self-beneficial reconciling penance administered by/for/to humans is performed by politicians who have a blinding trust in the concept employed as preventative responsibility contained within the theory of plausible deniability.
