In certain topics the word "standards" can be substituted with the word "wall". For example, a person who constructs their list or book standards is building their wall. Hope the wall can be easily deconstructed if it is too high. Or a visible method to scale it is provided. Unless of course the builder is a hermit who enjoys being secluded.
