Three score and 1 year ago (1) [1963] Leslie Gore gave to the world an idea about the strength and self-determination that women possess with the song "You Don't Own Me" (2). Striving forward through six decades the increasing emancipation of women has continually expanded women's participation in the areas of politics, education, economics, and physical ability (mostly excluding physical labor). All this advancement presents the opportunity to consider a lyrical change to Ms. Gore's song. "You Don't Owe Me" And may all the benefits go to each gender that those gendered deserve.
