Those working in government lose their perspective by forgetting (or ignoring) that laws affect citizens two ways. Some will be helped by the laws. Some will be hurt, perhaps even fatally by those laws. When law writers enact laws that are to help (protect) themselves, the number of citizens they are hurting increases significantly.
Once upon a time the outcome of such behavior by the governing was demonstrated effectively after the comment "Let them eat cake." (1). Ultimately citizens took a more dramatic approach to resolve their plight of hunger. Their action was not a piece of cake or brioche. In a strangely perverse sense, the WEF and EU are metaphorically (or actually) mimicking the same behavior at this point in history that was roiling France at the time of their revolution. Hopefully their system is flexible enough to swing the pendulum of history away from or to reverse its current trajectory.
The same applies in the U.S. Those in government have succumb to their own fantasies. They are behaving as if they have deemed themselves royalty. Hopefully the future can be determined by the citizens peacefully. History has demonstrated what the ultimate end will be. Whether that end is reached peacefully or not is the work in progress. History is famous for its ability to repeat itself.
It never fails.

To turn my leering leaching eye to the realm of "Notes", for example "Community Notes" and all other sources of information sometimes also called data either for or not for "checking" or any other purpose such as research. Can there be identified anything that is useless before one's encounter with such note (source)?
Requisite condition: How would one know for themself?
Do I hear it now? What you say?
Self-assigned complication rating: <1>). Or maybe zero.
Point: Everything old is always new to some or many.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
