Excluding the military do not government workers, bureaucrats, and politicians want to exhibit their patriotism by absorbing some of the burden that taxpayers are asked to bare. Particularly those who proclaim their work is a “civic duty”. But “civic duty” applies only as long as they are paid. Isn’t it their “civic duty” to sacrifice their time to work without pay for short periods to truly help their fellow citizens.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
