It is perplexing that Kevin McCarthy did not and perhaps mentally and psychologically could not perceive that his actions were analogically so similar to his predecessors and others in government, both democrat or republican. This nation exists only as long as society is cohesive enough to make it work. Government does not make things work. They act as referees. No more than referees despite their personal fantasies and no less than referees, if in the long run they want to continue to be viewed by society as useful.
Metaphorically Aerosmith was philosophically close to the reality of current political conditions as described by the lyrics to their song “Dream On”.

Maybe the most self-beneficial reconciling penance administered by/for/to humans is performed by politicians who have a blinding trust in the concept employed as preventative responsibility contained within the theory of plausible deniability. That, on judgement day penance may be translated to the language of individual responsibility and will fail the Judge's inquiry and be passed on as the administration of justice.
