My response to the obama comment about the gun control bill would be that the billions of people who have been saved because they have or are protected by people with guns, would now be dead if there hadn’t been access to guns. Why on earth would the police show-up no less be called if they didn’t have guns to defend people?

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
