It is next to impossible to prove something did not happen. It is much less difficult to prove something did happen. Just like voting. It is difficult to prove the loser lost particularly if the winner prevents the loser from proving the winner did indeed win.
President Ronald Reagan nailed it: “trust but verify”. Your life depends on it.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
