The story about the bear in the China zoo raises flags. If indeed the bear is standing on its two hind feet wouldn’t its name appropriately be Standing Bear? Which would become the target of appropriate accusations of cultural appropriation. All that for the bear that only wants to be appreciated appropriately.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
