It must be difficult for an individual to function in society when that person is afraid of their own shadow. Safe spaces may be required. Depending on age the safe space can be anything either literally or figuratively from a playpen to an insane asylum.
It can be very dangerous for others to function in society when someone is afraid of your shadow in addition to their own shadow. Paranoia of paranoids endeavors to prevail.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
