There is an ongoing effort to establish a third legal and moral standard. Of course, there is what is right aka a legal standard and there is what is wrong aka a illegal standard. The targeted third standard should be called the “ignored” standard. Ignored is used predominately when an action is improper or illegal that an individual or group do not want to acknowledge because they agree with the action even though it is illegal. If they ignore the activity, they behave as if that makes the activity moot whether wrong or right.

Maybe the most self-beneficial reconciling penance administered by/for/to humans is performed by politicians who have a blinding trust in the concept employed as preventative responsibility contained within the theory of plausible deniability. That, on judgement day penance may be translated to the language of individual responsibility and will fail the Judge's inquiry and be passed on as the administration of justice.
