The people running government have lawlessly changed to a group that has decided it can select which laws to enforce or to add laws to the list when the situation or their ideology merits.
The analogy that comes to mind is you just wait until your mother-in-law can run your life.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
