Progressives, liberals, democrats gun control laws are aimed solely at people who have guns for defensive purposes, not people who have guns for offensive purposes.
Reasons progressives, liberals, democrats would advocate such a position?
1. They do not want law abiding citizens to be able to defend themselves.
2. They do not want law abiding citizens protecting other defenseless citizens.
3. They do not want law abiding citizens to stop them from completely controlling the lives of law-abiding citizens.
4. They want law breaking citizens to have unfettered access to unarmed citizens.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
