Liberalism embodies negative criticism. E.G., Successful people are the reason you are not successful.
Conservatism is positive criticism. E.G., Unsuccessful people can be successful people if they think about it and work hard.
The conflicts arise for liberals because thinking and working hard are contrary to their dispositions and behavior.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
