Letter to Rush Limbaugh, February 2, 2013: I share your optimism about the long-term condition of the United States. My optimism is based on history. Like most, if not all civilizations, the intellectuals, which most politicians are, educate themselves into absurdity. Or, stated differently, the intellectuals teach themselves to ignore wisdom, reasoning and logic. What is the result? As with snake oil salesmen, the product does not perform, and the only result is the revelation of their foolish promises. The Wizard of Oz seems to be the apropos metaphor for the U.S. in its current throes of decline. The curtain will be pulled back and enough people will discover that a promise by government and politicians is only a fool’s errand. Fortunately, the founders realized the futility of striving for perfection as progressives feel so compelled to do. The founders provided the great foundation for reenergizing the goals of freedom when the fantasy of liberalism fails to reach its ridiculous aspirations. Guns are a perfect example of a fantasy. Progressives believe that if they pass a law banning guns it will be done. Just like the prohibition of alcohol worked quite effectively! Or progressives profess that if you do not teach children self-control and self-discipline, but rather teach that sex is easy and acceptable at will and as long as you are “careful” everything will be great. Liberalism is a house of cards, or you could say a house built on useless laws, E.G., 16 oz cups or 7 bullet clips. The final straw that will break the progressive liberal back is the very foundation of their philosophy. If someone else is always responsible for your condition in life and you should blame, despise, and hate them, ultimately, they themselves will become “them”. That is my corollary to Margaret Thatcher’s great paraphrased statement that “eventually you run out of other peoples’ money”. Their very foundation is based on the performance of others, what will they do when there are too few or no “others”. Finally, as you astutely stated during the show today; progressive liberals are pessimistic, conservatives are optimistic. I am much more confident to follow the achiever who says you/we can accomplish vs. the loser who says you/we can’t succeed.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.

Many threads of wisdom flow freely, constantly or is it just reality like that expressed in lyrics in the Simon & Garfunkel song, "The Boxer" wherein stated: "All lies in jest when a man hears what he wants to hear and forgets all the rest". So, history is guided to the next round of mental boxing. With others sometimes?
