obama’s comment about leading from behind seems consistent with a need to not be responsible for the actions taken by the person leading. The (in)plausible deniability attitude provides a self-attributed excuse why something does not achieve what they proclaim will be the result. The mental conflict is demonstrated by then proclaiming “you didn’t build that”. Quite ironically he proclaims someone else is in front guiding him but on the other hand that person will not have accomplished (built) the result. It may be called a mental dysphoria. To be blunt the rationalizing process presents as a mental illness or psychosis.
Note: obama has a history of voting “present” and not selecting Yes or No. It could be said that voting present is a different expression of leading from behind.

Maybe the most self-beneficial reconciling penance administered by/for/to humans is performed by politicians who have a blinding trust in the concept employed as preventative responsibility contained within the theory of plausible deniability. That, on judgement day penance may be translated to the language of individual responsibility and will fail the Judge's inquiry and be passed on as the administration of justice.
