Congratulations to Kevin McCarthy for nomination to the House of Representatives speaker position. I wish him success at the opportunity to achieve more than the mediocrity achieved by most of his predecessors in the position. I shall appreciate his tenure if the results are not at the minimum a tiny bit more than the mediocrity history has recorded.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
