The irony of progressivism and big government is that your fellow citizens who are employed by the government are probably the least qualified to solve the problems they think they can solve. That is why they went to government and not the free market. If they were qualified, they would have solved the problem without having to try to force it on their fellow citizens.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
