One reason liberals, progressives are so persistent at changing values through the use of laws is because they believe they can make their fantasy values realities with the use of laws.
It is why when their policies fail, they do not acknowledge the failure to either themselves or to society. The fact their fantasy does work is not in their fantasy reality.
For example: It can be the coldest winter in decades and climate change believers will freeze to death before the will agree that global warming is not real. Or they will rationalize the cold is caused by the warming.
Another example: Like the use of the phrase gay marriage. In short it is an arrangement not feasible in reality regardless of how often the phrase is repeated.
