In a very basic sense, most laws are opinions. Some of those opinions are as ancient as the human race and nature itself. Those opinions have passed many tests over time. The new opinions are usually opinions that have been rejected over time. So much time has passed there is no general opinion about the social structure of humanity which has not been considered and discarded.
Remember, there is a theory that God set only 10 commandments. Why has the human race attached to those commandments such considerable addenda? Do they think they are smarter than God?
