The statement that “police should be held to a higher standard” never identifies the standard to be surpassed.
For police isn’t the standard to be just a little bit better than the criminal behavior exhibited by criminals who are the majority of the people whose standards they must interact with? Police cannot and do not have to meet the standards expressed by critics unless and until the critic behaves the same way the criminal behaves.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
