The purpose of a group is what it does. Particularly if the group spends its time and resources trying to discredit other groups.
E.G.:
If the success of a group is based on the destruction of another group, their foundation is hate.
If the success of a group is based on the success of its members and what they contribute to society, their foundation is love.
