Marriage was established to create benefits for only one type of human being: the child. That sole benefit is the identification of one male and one female as the parents of the child.

It struck me that the result from the effort to rid the past of the history of slavery now may come to the perfect ending with the elimination of a past problem that doesn't exist now. That itself deserves the "Go figure" award.
