Liberal logic:
You do not want people to have guns because guns are dangerous, and people can get hurt.
When a gunman starts shooting people, you call other gunmen because those gunmen can hurt the first gunman with their guns.
Moral of the story have a gun at hand in case a gunman gets the idea they should start shooting.

What I am quite but not completely sure of is that I would support not preventing anyone from not doing what they do not want to do. However, in some situations I would not recommend such behavior.
